  • 1 in 2 men & 1 in 3 women will contract cancer, 1 in 4 people will die from the disease.
  • 156,530 people in California have cancer.
  • About 77% of all cancers are diagnosed in people 55 and older.
  • 1.5 million new cancer cases are expected in 2009.
  • Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed form of cancer in women and is the most common cause of death in women 45-55 years old.
  • 1in 8 women will get breast cancer.
  • 184,550 new breast cancer cases are expected in 2008, 1,990 of those new cases are men.
  • 40,930 will die from breast cancer this year.
  • Breast cancer has a 89% survival rate if caught early and treated.
  • Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed form of cancer in men. 1 in 6 men will get prostate cancer.
